The First Tournament of the 2025 Season at Lake Massasecum
The 2025 season kicked off with an exciting and challenging tournament at Lake Massasecum. Anglers faced cloudy, drizzly conditions with wind gusts up to 40 MPH, which made for a crazy day on the water. From boats floating away from the boat ramps, kayaks flipping over, falling during hooksets, to trolling motor batteries dying, it was a day filled with chaos. However, there were some impressive three-fish bags were still put together.
Length Winner & Lunker Winner:

Chad Sweeney rose to the occasion, winning the tournament with a three-fish bag totaling 52 inches and securing the Lunker of the Day with a 2 lb 14 oz largemouth. Chad’s victory not only earned him the top spot for the day but also qualified him for both the Tournament of Champions and the Heavy Hitter Fish Off, marking an impressive start to the season.
Notable Catches:
Josh Feinberg finished in second with a solid three-fish limit totaling 51 inches.
Chris Currier, Bryan Currier, and Tony Nappo all put together impressive bags of 49 inches, showcasing their resilience in the tough conditions.
